Instructions and User Guide
Follow these simple steps to get the most out of your new rice cooker:
- Correct power: Only use the product with an approved power outlet (220-240V).
- Safety feature: Always place the inner pot in the cooker before use. The cooking button cannot be pressed unless the inner pot is correctly in place.
- Start cooking: When ready, plug the appliance into the power outlet. Turn the on/off switch to the "I" position and press the cook button.
- Automatic keep warm function: When the rice is ready or the food is steamed, the rice cooker automatically switches to the warm function.
- Important: The cooker remains on until you manually turn it off. Press the on/off switch to the "O" position and unplug the power cord after use. Allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning.
- Preserve moisture: Place the lid on during cooking. Leave the lid on after serving to prevent the rice from discoloring or drying out.
- Reheating Cold Rice: Don't throw away leftovers! Add about 1/2 cup of cold water per cup of cooked rice, stir, and press the power button. Tip: Leftover rice is great for fried rice.
- Care Instructions: Keep the bottom of the inner pot and the heating plate completely free of foreign objects to avoid malfunctions.
- Placement: Gently turn the pot sideways when inserting to ensure it is completely flat inside.
Find the Right Rice for Your Recipes
Rice is a great source of complex carbohydrates and important nutrients like thiamine, niacin, and iron—all without the fat. Here's a guide to the most common types of rice and how to best use them in your rice cooker:
- Long-grain rice: Perfect for dishes where you want loose, non-sticky grains. (California: Soft texture, Caroline: Slightly firmer, Jasmine rice: The firmest option – very aromatic and flavorful.)
- Short grain rice: Softer and stickier varieties that are perfect for Asian and oriental recipes. (California (short grain): Soft and supple, Sweet Rice ("Pearl rice"): Round and extra sticky – the obvious choice for a creamy rice porridge.)
- Brown rice (Whole grain rice): The healthy option in its natural, bran-rich form. Packed with fiber, B vitamins, iron and calcium.
- Wild rice: Characterized by its firm texture and dark color. Often mixed with long grain rice and perfect as a luxurious filling for turkey or chicken together with broth and dried fruit.
Cleaning and maintenance
- Before cleaning the rice cooker, always press the on/off button to the "O" position, unplug the power cord and allow it to cool completely.
- Remove the inner pot and lid from the rice cooker and wash them in hot soapy water. Rinse thoroughly then dry with a soft, clean cloth.
- Clean the outside of your cooker as needed with a clean, damp cloth or a mild detergent.
- Never use abrasive cleaners. Do not use metal tools or steel wool on the outside or the cooking pot as this may cause damage. Do not immerse any part of the rice cooker in water.
- To clean the heating plate and temperature control plate, use steel wool to polish or remove any residue. Then wipe with a damp cloth. Allow to dry completely before using again. Keep the heating plate and temperature control plate free of foreign objects, otherwise the cooker will not function properly.
- Vinegar or salt residue can cause the inner pot to corrode. Always clean thoroughly after each use.
- Any service other than cleaning should be performed by an authorized service representative.
Quick Cleaning Tip
Add 1/2 cup water and a small amount of dishwashing liquid or dishwasher detergent to the inner pot. Press the Cook button and heat for 10 minutes. Let cool. Rinse well and dry completely before using again.
