Chinese Wood Oil Pigmented Brown 1L Herdins
Description
Herdins Chinese Wood Oil is a premium oil with an extra high dry content (49%), based on classic linseed oil and exclusive Tung tree oil (Chinese wood oil). With at least 85% Chinese wood oil in the oil content, this pigmented formula provides superior protection against water penetration, drying out, cracking and mold. The brown pigmentation not only gives the wood a warm and uniform tone, but also contributes with extra UV protection that preserves the quality of the wood season after season.
The benefits of Herdins Chinese Wood Oil Brown
- Extremely deep penetration: The molecular structure of Tung tree oil penetrates significantly deeper into the pores of the wood than conventional wood oils.
- Superior water repellency: Creates a hydrophobic barrier deep into the wood without forming a dense plastic film that can flake.
- Versatile application: Perfect for everything from pressure-treated pine to hardwoods such as teak and mahogany.
- Maintenance-free finishing: Requires no finishing or varnishing - saturates the wood deeply in one step.
Suitable substrates & areas of use
Herdins Chinese Wood Oil is designed for all types of outdoor wood:
- Balconies, wooden decks and balcony floors
- Garden furniture and benches
- Facade panels, fences, railings and trellises
- Precious woods such as teak, mahogany and larch
- Boat details above the waterline
Step-by-step: How to successfully apply
Preparation
For best results and durability, the surface must be completely clean, solid and dry. Wash previously oiled or dirty surfaces with facade or decking cleaner and let dry thoroughly before treatment.
Weather & conditions
- Temperature: Treat at a temperature of between 15–25 °C.
- Weather: Avoid application in direct, strong sunlight or on surfaces heated by the sun (the oil will then dry too quickly before it has time to penetrate).
- Moisture protection: The surface must be protected from rain and moisture for at least 48 hours after treatment.
Application
- Stir thoroughly: Stir the can thoroughly before starting and continue stirring regularly during the work so that the pigments are evenly distributed and do not sink to the bottom.
- Saturate the wood: Apply the oil liberally with a brush until the surface is completely saturated.
- Wipe off excess: Let the oil sink in for a few minutes. Then wipe off any excess thoroughly with a lint-free cloth. The oil should penetrate the wood, not dry to a shiny film on the surface.
- Maintenance: When the wooden surface starts to look dull or dried out over time, the protection can be easily improved with a new layer.
Safety, storage & environment
- Warning for spontaneous combustion: Rags and torn material soaked in linseed oil-based products can spontaneously ignite. Always soak used rags in water after use or burn them in controlled conditions.
- Health: Avoid direct skin contact and inhalation of vapors/mist. Repeated contact may cause dry skin or cracking. Contains dichlorooctylisothiazolinone - may cause an allergic reaction.
- Storage: Keep cool, dry and out of reach of children.
- If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting. Contact a poison control center or doctor immediately and have the container or label at hand.
- Waste disposal: Liquid oil residues and empty cans should be delivered to a municipal recycling center/environmental station. Do not pour into the drain.
