Craft Knife 105LC 205mm Laminated Carbon Steel Morakniv
Description
Morakniv Craft Knife 105 (LC), popularly known as the Nusnäskniven, is a Swedish craft icon. This is the original knife that generations of carvers have used to sculpt the world-famous Dala horse in Nusnäs. With its 84 mm long blade in premium laminated carbon steel and an ergonomic birch spool handle with integrated finger guard, you get a larger craft knife that combines raw cutting power with exceptional fingertip feel. Whether you're carving figures, roughing out wooden spoons or undertaking detailed craft projects, the 105LC provides the stability and control needed for professional results.
Benefits of the Morakniv 105 LC Nusnäskniven
- Laminated carbon steel (LC) with superior sharpness: The core of extremely hard carbon steel is surrounded by tougher steel. This creates an edge that stays sharp for an extremely long time, withstands hard hits without chipping, and is easy to sharpen to razor-sharp precision.
- Optimized for precision and design: The narrow, pointed blade makes it easy to access tight angles, recesses, and intricate patterns.
- Ergonomic grip with finger guard: The shaped handle made of Scandinavian birch provides a natural and comfortable grip during long carving sessions. The discreet finger guard minimizes the risk of your hand slipping over the edge.
- Full tang for maximum strength: The blade steel runs through the entire handle, providing a balanced weight distribution and a robust construction that can withstand heavy cuts from the blade.
- Authentic Swedish craftsmanship: Developed and manufactured in Mora, Dalarna – the heart of Swedish knife tradition.
Knife care & maintenance of laminated carbon steel
Laminated carbon steel has outstanding cutting properties, but is sensitive to moisture and corrosion:
- Clean immediately: Always rinse or wipe the knife dry immediately after use. Never leave it damp.
- Oil the blade: Apply a thin layer of paraffin oil, camellia oil or regular mineral oil at regular intervals to protect the steel from rust.
- Natural patina: Over time, carbon steel develops a darker gray-blue patina. This is a natural reaction that protects the steel and gives the knife a beautiful, rustic character.
- Honing: Keep the edge sharp with a fine whetstone or strigel leather with polishing paste to preserve the unique edge durability.
