Limescale deposits are completely natural, but they can make heating take longer and use more energy. Follow our simple guide for safe maintenance and effective descaling of kettles. Important before cleaning: Always let the kettle cool down completely and unplug it from the electrical outlet before you start. Never immerse the kettle, base plate or cord in water.

How to clean the exterior (Coat)

Keep your kitchen machine sparkling clean and fresh with minimal effort:

• Wipe the casing with a soft, slightly damp cloth. If necessary, you can use a mild, non-toxic detergent.
• Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive sponges that can scratch the surface of plastic or stainless steel.
• Make sure that no moisture comes into contact with the electrical parts on the underside of the kettle or on the base.

How often to descale a kettle

We recommend that you descale your machine at least once a month. If you live in an area with hard water (a lot of lime in the tap water), you should do it even more often. Here are three simple and effective methods for descaling:

Method 1: Descale with white wine vinegar (vinegar)

• Fill the kettle with half a liter of vinegar or diluted vinegar.
• Leave the liquid in the kettle for 1 hour without turning on the power or bringing to a boil.
• Empty and rinse thoroughly.

Method 2: Descale with citric acid (Quick method)

• Boil half a liter of water in your Emerio.
• Add 25 grams of citric acid to the hot water and leave for 15 minutes.
• Empty and rinse thoroughly.

Method 3: Specific descaling agent

• Use a descaling agent suitable for plastic or stainless steel kettles and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging carefully.

Important final step: Regardless of the method you choose, make sure to drain the kettle and rinse it thoroughly 5 to 6 times with clean water before boiling tea or coffee water again.
