Floor Oil 3L Natural Herdins
Description
Herdins Floor Oil Naturell 3L is a high-quality, alkyd-reinforced wood oil based on natural plant oils, specially developed to highlight and preserve the wood's natural luster and character. The oil penetrates deep into the structure and provides a saturated, durable and silky-matte surface with a genuine wood feel underfoot. The unique composition creates effective protection while leaving a smooth surface that is very easy to maintain and spot repair in the event of future wear.
The product is ideal for sloped, stained or completely untreated wooden floors made of both hardwood and softer softwood. It is supplied in a practical 3-liter plastic canister that is sufficient for approximately 30 m², making it an optimal choice for both new installations and refreshing existing wooden floors in the home.
Application instructions
Manual treatment
Preparation & Application
The surface should be dry and dust-free. Stir thoroughly. Pour the oil into a large container. Apply lengthwise over 3–4 boards at a time (or sections that you can handle in 15–20 minutes). Work the oil well back and forth. Never finish in the middle of a board. Wipe off all excess oil thoroughly with a lint-free cloth after 15–20 minutes. Repeat the treatment after a few hours with a thin application when the surface feels dry.
Drying time & Finishing
Let dry for at least 24 hours at room temperature. Polish with a white non-woven cloth. Wait at least 1 week before laying carpets. Do a basic treatment with Herdins Floor Soap after about 2 weeks.
Machine treatment
Preparation & Application
Equipment: Protective gloves, shoe covers, brush/rubber squeegee (white rubber), polishing machine, red and white pad, lint-free cloths.
The surface should be dry and dust-free. Stir the oil. Apply with a brush or rubber squeegee (divide into sections if necessary). Let the oil soak in for about 10 minutes (add more to dry areas). Process the oil crosswise with a polishing machine (150 rpm) and red pad. Wipe off excess immediately with a cotton cloth (manually on edges/corners or under the machine). Repeat the treatment after a few hours by pouring out about 2 dl of oil at a time and working it out. Wipe off excess in the same way.
Drying time & Finishing
Let dry for 20–24 hours at room temperature (preferably do not walk on the floor). Polish with a white fiber pad (300 rpm). Let harden for another 24 hours before use. Wait at least 1 week with carpets. Do a basic treatment with Herdins Floor Soap after about 2 weeks.
Care and maintenance
- Daily cleaning: Vacuuming or dry mopping.
- Regular cleaning: Wet wiping with Herdins Floor Soap that re-greases and protects.
- Annual maintenance: With normal wear, the floor is maintained once a year with floor oil diluted with 10% white spirit.
- Initial hardening: If possible, avoid soiling and wet wiping during the first week while the oil hardens.
Important to consider
- Spontaneous ignition risk: Rags soaked in oil can ignite spontaneously. Always put used rags in water or burn them immediately after use.
- Temperature: Work at normal room temperature. Too hot will cause the oil to dry too quickly, making it difficult to remove excess; too cold will extend the drying time.
- End result: Wipe off all excess oil thoroughly to avoid shiny areas. Always protect surrounding surfaces.
Safety, storage and disposal
- Handling: Keep out of reach of children. Avoid inhalation of fumes, spillage and contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves.
- Disposal: Dispose of at local waste disposal facility. Contact your local municipality for more information.
