The deep-penetrating formula, based on natural plant oils, creates a durable, saturated and matte surface that is easy to maintain and easy to repair locally in the event of future wear. The floor oil is specially developed for sloped, stained or completely untreated wooden floors in both softwood and hardwood. With excellent coverage – where a 3-liter canister is enough for approximately 30 m² – you get long-lasting protection against dirt and moisture, while preserving the living character of the wood in the best possible way.

Herdins Floor Oil is a perfect choice when you want a durable floor without losing the natural wood feel. The formula is based on natural plant oils and reinforced with alkyd resin for extra durability. It provides a saturated, pleasant surface that withstands everyday wear and tear and is easy to repair locally if scratches occur.

Preparation (Important)

• Make sure the floor is completely dry and free of sanding dust.
• Protect surrounding surfaces.
• Make sure the room is at normal room temperature (too hot causes the oil to dry too quickly, too cold extends the drying time).

Manual treatment

• Stir: Stir the oil thoroughly in the can and pour into a spacious, clean container.
• Application: Start lengthwise along the board. Work with 3–4 boards at a time and do not treat larger areas than you can cover in 15–20 minutes. Never finish in the middle of a board.
• Wipe: Carefully wipe off all excess oil with a lint-free cloth after 15–20 minutes. No excess oil should remain on the surface.
• Second coat: Repeat the treatment after a few hours when the surface feels dry. Two thin coats always give a better result than one flowing coat.
• Finishing: Let dry for at least 24 hours. Then polish with a white non-woven cloth.

Machine treatment (Floor polishing machine)

• Equipment needed: Protective gloves, shoe covers, brush/rubber squeegee (white rubber), polishing machine, red and white pad, lint-free cloths.
• Application: Spread the oil with a brush or rubber squeegee and let it soak in for about 10 minutes. Add more oil to dry areas.
• Processing: Process the floor and excess oil crosswise with a polishing machine (150 rpm) and red pad.
• Wipe: Immediately wipe away any excess with a cotton cloth (manually or under the machine). Wipe edges and corners by hand.
• Second coat: Pour out about 2 dl of oil where the treatment is to begin when the surface feels dry. Work the oil out with the machine and wipe away excess.
• Curing & Polishing: Let dry for 20–24 hours (do not walk on the floor). Polish with a polishing machine (300 rpm) and white fiber pad. Let harden for another 24 hours.

Care and maintenance of oiled floors

• Daily cleaning: Vacuum or dry mop.
• Wet mopping: Use Herdins Floor Soap for regular cleaning - it re-greases and protects the wood.
• Annual maintenance: With normal wear, the floor is maintained about once a year (then dilute the floor oil with 10% white spirit).
• Basic treatment: After about 2 weeks, the newly oiled floor should be treated with Herdins Floor Soap.
• Important: Wait at least a week before putting back carpets and avoid wet drying during the first week as the oil needs to harden.

Important Safety Instructions & Other

Rags soaked in oil can ignite spontaneously. Always put used rags in water or burn them immediately after use.

• Storage: Keep out of reach of children.
• Handling: Ensure good ventilation and avoid inhaling fumes. Wear protective gloves and avoid skin and eye contact.
• Waste management: Leftover product and packaging should be delivered to a local waste disposal station.
