Floor Oil White 3L Herdins
Description
Give your wooden floors long-lasting protection and an elegant, bright finish with Herdins Floor Oil White (3 L). This high-quality, alkyd-reinforced wood oil is specially formulated for stained, stained and untreated wooden floors made of both softwood and hardwood. With its unique composition of natural plant oils and titanium dioxide pigments, it penetrates deep into the pores of the wood to provide a saturated, repellent and naturally matte surface that highlights the wood's grain while preventing yellowing. The oil creates a pleasant feeling underfoot and is designed to be easy to apply – either manually or with a polishing machine – and easy to maintain and repair in the event of future wear and tear. A 3 liter package is enough for approximately 30 m², making it a perfect choice for those who want to combine functional wood protection with a timeless, Scandinavian aesthetic in their home.
User Instructions & Application
Preparation
- The surface must be completely dry and free of sanding dust.
- Stir the oil thoroughly in the can so that no white pigment remains at the bottom.
- Ensure good ventilation and work at normal room temperature (if the temperature is too high, the oil dries too quickly; if the temperature is low, the drying time is extended).
Manual Treatment
- Application: Pour the oil into a spacious container. Apply in the lengthwise direction of the board with a brush or cloth (3–4 boards at a time). Do not work over a larger area than you can cover in 15–20 minutes. Never finish in the middle of a board.
- Wipe: Wipe away all excess oil with a lint-free cloth after 15–20 minutes. It is important that no oil remains on the surface.
- Second layer: Repeat the treatment after a few hours when the surface feels dry. Two thin layers give a better result than one flowing one.
- Post-polishing: Let dry for at least 24 hours and then polish with a white polishing cloth.
Machine Treatment (Floor Polishing Machine)
- Tools: Protective gloves, shoe covers, brush/rubber squeegee (white rubber), polishing machine, red and white pad, lint-free cloths.
- Application: Spread the oil with a brush/rubber squeegee and let it soak in for about 10 minutes.
- Processing: Process the surface and the excess crosswise with a polishing machine (150 rpm) and red pad. Wipe off excess oil immediately manually or with a cloth under the machine.
- Second layer: Pour out about 2 dl of oil and work in with the machine when the first layer is dry (after a few hours).
- Curing & Post-polishing: Let dry for 20–24 hours. Post-polishing with a white fiber pad (300 rpm). Let the oil cure for another 24 hours before the floor is put into use.
Care and Maintenance
- Daily cleaning: Vacuuming or dry mopping.
- Wet wiping: Use Herdins Floor Soap regularly - it re-greases and protects the wooden surface.
- Basic treatment: Do a basic treatment with Herdins Floor Soap about 2 weeks after the oil treatment.
- Annual maintenance: With normal wear, the floor is maintained once a year (then dilute the floor oil with 10% white spirit).
- Note: Avoid wet wiping and soiling during the first week when the oil is still hardening. Wait at least a week before putting carpets back on.
Safety, Storage & Waste
- Rabbits soaked in linseed oil and wood oil can ignite spontaneously. Always put used rags in water or burn them immediately after use.
- Storage: Keep out of reach of children. Avoid spillage, inhalation of vapours and contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves.
- Disposal: Leftover oil and chemicals should be taken to the nearest recycling centre/environmental station.
