Description

Herdins Hard Wax Oil Pigmented 216 Light Grey (275 ml) is the optimal choice for both colouring, caring for and providing long-lasting protection for wooden surfaces indoors that are exposed to heavy wear. The product is based on natural vegetable oils, waxes and pigments that penetrate deep into the wood, nourish and highlight the wood's natural character and lustre.

The result is a matt, water- and dirt-repellent surface that effectively resists dust and spills. The oil makes treated surfaces durable and easy to clean and maintain – even with intensive everyday use. This is a professional but very user-friendly option for achieving a beautiful and durable finish.

Suitable substrates

• Substrates: Clean and dry indoor wooden surfaces that are exposed to heavy wear, including parquet floors, wooden floors, worktops, furniture and wooden panels.
• Works great on both new and recently sanded wood.
• The surface should be completely free of detergent, wax, varnish or lacquer residues.
• Instructions for use & Application

Pre-treatment

• Sand the surface completely clean to ensure the best possible adhesion.
• Start with a coarser sandpaper and finish with grain size 120.
• Always sand in the direction of the wood grain.
• Vacuum and thoroughly wipe away all sanding dust before application.

Application

• The hard wax oil should be at room temperature. Stir the can very thoroughly before use.
• The oil should be applied in two thin layers.
• Use a brush, Herdins Stain Applicator or scouring pad to carefully work the oil into the wood fibres.
• NOTE! Wipe off any excess oil immediately. It is very important that no excess oil is left on the surface.
• Let dry for 10 hours before applying the second layer.
• Let the second layer dry for 12 hours.
• The surface can withstand light loads after 3 days and has fully hardened after 12 days.

Finishing & Polishing

• The finished surface can be polished with a polishing cloth.
• For a shinier surface, the surface can be polished with a white scouring pad.

Care and maintenance

• Everyday cleaning and maintenance is easy with lukewarm water and Herdins Linseed Oil Soap.
• When the surface wears over time and starts to feel dry or rough: sand lightly with fine sandpaper, remove the sanding dust carefully and apply a new layer of hard wax oil.

Cleaning of tools

• Wipe off as much oil as possible from brushes and application tools on a paper or cloth.
• First wash the tools thoroughly with mineral spirits.
• Then clean the tools with soap and water.

Handling, storage and disposal

• Storage: Store in tightly closed original packaging. Avoid spillage and contact with skin and eyes. Do not empty into drains.
• Waste management: Liquid residues should be handed in to the local environmental station as paint waste. Completely emptied and well-cleaned cans should be sorted as metal/sheet metal.

Important to remember

• Warning of spontaneous combustion: The product contains drying oils. There is a risk of spontaneous combustion of soaked rags, tangles, steel wool, etc. Always soak used rags and tools in water immediately after use, or burn them in a controlled manner.
• Batch number: If you use several cans of the same color, it is important to check that they have the same batch number. Always mix the contents of all cans together before starting work to ensure a completely even color result.
• Adjusting color intensity: If a weaker color is desired, the pigmented hard wax oil can be mixed with uncolored hard wax oil. Mix the entire amount needed and spread the mixture in 2 layers.
• Avoid mismatch: Never finish with an uncolored hard wax oil on top of a pigmented hard wax oil; both layers should consist of the same oil mixture.
