Hard Wax Oil Pigmented Light Grey 1L Herdins
Description
Colour and protect your wooden surfaces in a single step. Herdins Hard Wax Oil in the colour Light Grey is a durable, matt surface treatment based on natural vegetable oils and waxes. It penetrates deep into the wood fibres to provide maximum nourishment while creating effective water and dirt-repellent protection with a stylish, light grey tone. Perfect for wooden surfaces indoors that are exposed to heavy wear – for example parquet floors, solid wood floors, kitchen countertops, tables and wood panels.
Benefits of Herdins Hard Wax Oil Light Grey
- Dual function: Provides beautiful colouring and long-lasting protection at the same time.
- Hard-wearing & durable: Creates a dirt- and water-repellent surface that withstands heavy wear and frequent use.
- Natural luster: Highlights the wood's natural grain and structure with a modern, matt finish.
- Easy-care: Makes maintenance and cleaning easy in everyday life.
User instructions: Step by step
Pre-treatment
- The surface must be clean, dry and completely free of wax, grease, detergent residue or old varnish.
- Sand the surface of the wood. Start with a coarser paper and finish with grain size 120. Always sand along the grain direction of the wood.
- Vacuum and thoroughly wipe away all sanding dust before application.
Application
- Make sure the oil is at room temperature and stir thoroughly before and during work so that the pigments are evenly distributed.
- Apply the first thin layer with a brush, Herdins stain applicator or scouring pad. Work the oil thoroughly in the direction of the grain.
- Important: Immediately wipe off any excess with a lint-free cloth – no excess oil must be left on the surface.
- Let dry for 10 hours.
- Apply the second thin layer in the same way and wipe off any excess.
- Let dry for 12 hours.
Tip: The surface can be polished with a polishing cloth or white scouring pad for a slightly smoother or shinier feel.
Important to consider
- Spontaneous ignition risk: The product contains drying oils. Always soak used rags, rags made of tangles and steel wool in water immediately after use or burn them safely.
- Color & Batch: Do you have multiple cans? Check that they have the same batch number or mix the cans together in a larger container before application to ensure a completely even color tone.
- Adjust the shade: If you want a weaker color, mix the light gray oil with uncolored hard wax oil. Never add an uncolored oil on top of a dried pigmented layer.
- Maintenance: Clean the surface gently with lukewarm water and Herdins Linseed Oil Soap. When the surface wears out over time or feels rough, sand lightly with fine sandpaper and apply a new thin layer of hard wax oil.
