Hard Wax Oil Pigmented White 1L Herdins
Description
Herdins Hard Wax Oil Pigmented White combines aesthetic coloring and functional surface protection in a single step. The product is based on natural vegetable oils and waxes that penetrate deep into the pores of the wood. The result is a vibrant, beautifully white-glazed wooden surface with a matte finish that effectively resists dirt, spills, water and hard everyday wear and tear. Excellent for demanding wooden surfaces indoors such as wooden and parquet floors, kitchen countertops, dining tables, furniture and decorative wood panels.
Quick Facts & Benefits
- Colors and protects at the same time: Provides an even, bright white pigmented tone while saturating the wood in depth.
- High durability: Forms a microporous, water and dirt-repellent surface that does not crack or flake like traditional varnish.
- Natural content: Formulated with renewable vegetable oils and waxes that allow the wood to breathe and preserve its natural structure.
- Easy maintenance: Damaged or worn areas can be spot-repaired without the need to sand the entire floor or furniture.
- Generous consumption: 1 liter is enough for approximately 10–15 m² with the recommended two-coat treatment.
Step-by-step: How to apply Herdins Hard Wax Oil
For a professional and durable result, accuracy in preparation and wiping is crucial:
Pre-treatment (Wooden substrate)
- The surface must be completely clean, dry and free of previous varnishes, waxes or chemical residues.
- Sand the surface in the direction of the wood grain. Start with coarser sandpaper if necessary and finish with 120 grit.
- Vacuum thoroughly and wipe away any microscopic sanding dust with a tack cloth or microfibre cloth.
Application
- Make sure the oil is at room temperature (at least 18–20 °C). Stir thoroughly from the bottom so that the pigments are evenly distributed.
- Apply a thin, even layer with a brush, Herdins stain applicator or white scouring pad. Work methodically in the direction of the wood grain.
- Important: Wipe away any excess immediately with a lint-free cotton cloth. No excess oil should remain as a film on the surface, as this can cause sticky spots and uneven drying.
- Leave to dry for at least 10 hours with good ventilation.
- Apply the second thin layer in the same way and wipe off the excess immediately. Leave to dry for at least 12 hours.
Post-treatment & Final Finish
- For a smoother surface and higher shine, the surface can be gently polished with a white scouring pad or polishing cloth when it is completely dry.
- The surface can be walked on carefully after 3 days, but avoid placing carpets, placing heavy furniture or wiping with a wet cloth before it has fully cured after 12 days.
Pro Tip
- Multiple cans: If the project requires more than one can, check that they have the same batch number. Mix the cans together in a larger container before application to eliminate the risk of shade differences.
- Adjust the shade strength: Do you want a weaker, more transparent white tone? Mix the white hard wax oil with Herdins uncolored hard wax oil in the desired proportion before application.
- Rule for the layers: Never finish with an uncolored hard wax oil on top of a pigmented layer – always apply the same mixture/product in both coats for even penetration and color bonding.
- Maintenance & Cleaning: For everyday use, vacuuming or dry mopping is sufficient. When damp mopping, use lukewarm water with Herdins Linseed Oil Soap. Avoid strong alkaline cleaning agents that dissolve the wax layer.
- Spot renovation: When the surface feels dry or rough after prolonged use, clean thoroughly, sand lightly with fine sandpaper (grain 180–240), remove the dust and apply a new, very thin layer of hard wax oil.
Safety & Environment
- NOTE! Risk of spontaneous combustion: The product contains drying vegetable oils. Soaked rags, rag residues, polishing pads and steel wool can ignite spontaneously. Always soak used rags in water immediately after use, store them in an airtight metal container or burn them under controlled conditions.
- Storage: Store frost-free in tightly closed original packaging, out of the reach of children.
- Waste management: Liquid residues must not be poured into the drain but must be handed over to a recycling center as hazardous waste/paint waste. Once emptied and dry, cans are sorted as metal packaging.
