Hard Wax Oil Uncolored Ultra Matt 1L Herdins
Description
Herdins Hard Wax Oil Uncolored Ultramatt (1 L) is the obvious choice for those looking for a professional and durable result on surfaces exposed to heavy wear. Through a balanced combination of vegetable oils and protective waxes, the product penetrates deep into the wood fibers while forming a microscopic, flexible surface shield. The result is a durable, water and dirt-repellent surface that does not crack or flake - while the ultra-matt shine highlights the grain and natural character of the wood.
Suitable areas of use
- Parquet and wooden floors: Provides a durable walking surface that is easy to clean and vacuum.
- Countertops & kitchen islands: Resists splashes, liquids and spills in the kitchen environment.
- Furniture & table tops: Protects dining tables, desks and benches from everyday wear and tear.
- Wood panelling & joinery: Highlights the structure of walls and interior details.
Guide: How to apply Herdins Hard Wax Oil
Preparation
- Sand the wooden surface: The surface must be completely clean, dry and free of old varnish, wax or soap residues.
- Grit size: Start with a coarser paper and always finish with fine sandpaper (grit 120). Always sand in the direction of the wood grain.
- Vacuum thoroughly: Make sure that all sanding dust is removed with a vacuum cleaner or tack cloth before you start oiling.
Application
- Temperature & Stirring: Make sure the room and oil are at normal room temperature (approx. 18–22°C). Stir the oil thoroughly from the bottom before and during work.
- First layer: Apply a thin and even layer with a brush, Snappy or white scouring pad. Work the oil in thoroughly along the wood fibers.
- Wipe off excess (Important): After a few minutes, wipe off all excess thoroughly with a lint-free cloth. Never leave puddles or a wet layer on the surface!
- Intermediate drying: Let the first layer dry for at least 10 hours in good ventilation.
- Second layer: Repeat the procedure with a second thin layer in the same way.
Drying times & Curing
- Dust dry / Surface dry: Approx. 12 hours after the last layer.
- Light load: Can be walked on/used carefully after 3 days (avoid heavy furniture and carpets).
- Fully cured: The surface reaches its full wear resistance and water repellency after 12 days (at 20 °C and 50% relative humidity).
Care, maintenance and cleaning
- Daily cleaning: Vacuum or wipe with a slightly damp cloth.
- Regular care: If cleaning is required, use lukewarm water mixed with a splash of Herdins Linseed Oil Soap. Avoid strong alkaline or degreasing detergents as these break down the wax layer.
- Maintenance treatment: When the wood starts to feel dry, dull or rough after a while: clean the surface, roughen it up slightly with fine sandpaper, remove the dust and apply a new thin layer of hard wax oil.
- Post-polishing: For a slightly smoother or silkier surface, you can post-polish the dry surface with a white polishing cloth or scouring pad.
Safety & Environmental Management
- Warning of spontaneous combustion: The product contains drying vegetable oils. Rags, rags, steel wool or sandpaper soaked in oil can ignite spontaneously! Always put used rags in water or store them in an airtight metal can before discarding (or burn them under controlled conditions).
- Storage: Store frost-free in a tightly closed original can out of reach of children.
- Waste management: Liquid oil residues are sent to a recycling center as hazardous waste/paint waste. Empty and well-cleaned tin cans are sorted as metal packaging. Never pour oil down the drain!
