Hard Wax Oil Uncolored Ultra Matt 2.7L Herdins
Description
Give your wooden surfaces a natural, professional and long-lasting protection. Herdins Hard Wax Oil Uncolored Ultramatt (2.7 L) is designed for indoor surfaces that are exposed to heavy daily wear and tear. The combination of natural vegetable oils and hard waxes penetrates deep into the wood's fibers while creating a durable, water and dirt repellent barrier on the surface. The ultra-matt finish preserves the wood's original feel and raw character without giving an unwanted shine or plastic surface.
Quick Facts & Highlights
- Durable deep-acting protection: Excellent for wooden floors, stairs, kitchen counters and dining tables.
- Water and dirt repellent: Prevents spills and liquids from penetrating and creating stains.
- Preserves the natural appearance of the wood: The ultra-matte surface highlights the grain and structure of the wood.
- Operation & Maintenance: Easy to spot repair and clean without the need to re-sand the entire surface.
- Natural content: Based on vegetable oils and waxes.
Suitable areas of use
Herdins Hard Wax Oil is ideal for both newly produced and newly sanded wooden surfaces indoors:
- Wood and parquet floors: Withstands high foot traffic and mechanical wear.
- Worktops & tables: Resists moisture, food spills and everyday kitchen wear.
- Furniture & interior details: Protects chairs, sideboards and shelves.
- Wooden panels & ribbed walls: Enhances the feel of the wood and makes dusting easier.
Step-by-step: How to apply Herdins Hard Wax Oil
Pre-treatment & Sanding
- Make sure the wood is clean, dry and free of grease, dirt, old varnishes or varnishes.
- Sand the surface of the wood. Start with a coarser paper and finish with grain size 120. Always sand along the grain of the wood.
- Vacuum thoroughly and wipe away all fine sanding dust with a tack cloth or microfiber cloth.
Application
- Temperature: Make sure the oil and the room are at normal room temperature (at least 18–20 °C).
- Stir: Stir the hard wax oil thoroughly from the bottom before and during work. (If you are using several cans, mix them together in a common container first).
- Layer 1: Spread a thin layer with a brush, Herdins Stain Spreader or white scouring pad. Work the oil thoroughly into the fibers.
- Wipe off excess: Important! Wipe off all excess oil immediately with a lint-free cloth. No wet oil should be left on the surface.
- Intermediate drying: Let the surface dry for at least 10 hours.
- Layer 2: Apply a second thin layer in the same way and wipe off any excess immediately.
- Final drying: Let the second layer dry for 12 hours.
Finishing & Curing
- Loading: The surface can be walked on or loaded carefully after 3 days. Avoid placing heavy carpets or exposing the surface to moisture during the first 12 days until full curing is achieved.
- Polishing: For a smoother finish, the surface can be polished with a polishing cloth or white scouring pad.
Care, cleaning and maintenance
- Daily cleaning: Vacuum or dry mop the surface. When damp-drying, use lukewarm water mixed with a mild soap, such as Herdins Linseed Oil Soap. Avoid strong alkaline detergents as they break down the wax layer.
- Maintenance treatment: When the wood starts to look dry or dull after a while, clean the surface, roughen it up slightly with fine sandpaper, remove dust and apply a new thin layer of hard wax oil.
Safety and storage
NOTE! Risk of spontaneous combustion:
The product contains drying vegetable oils. Rags, sponges, rags and polishing pads soaked in oil can spontaneously ignite. Always soak used rags in water after use and seal in an airtight container, or burn them under controlled conditions.
- Storage: Store in a tightly closed original container, cool and frost-free and out of the reach of children.
- Recycling: Liquid oil residues are handed over to the local recycling center as hazardous waste / paint waste. Well emptied and dry cans are sorted as metal/sheet metal.
