Hard Wax Oil Uncolored Matt 2.7L Herdins
Description
Herdins Hard Wax Oil Uncolored Matt (2.7 liters) is a professional and user-friendly choice for those who want to give indoor wooden surfaces maximum protection without compromising the wood's natural feel and luster. The formula is based on a carefully balanced combination of vegetable oils and natural waxes. The oil penetrates deep into the pores of the wood to strengthen the material from within, while the waxes form a diffusion-open, microporous surface layer that makes the wood extremely water-, dirt- and spill-repellent. The surface retains its living wood structure, breathes naturally and resists everyday wear and tear – perfect for both kitchens with children and busy shop floors.
The benefits of Herdins Hard Wax Oil
- Superior wear resistance: Especially adapted for surfaces that are exposed to hard and frequent mechanical wear.
- Water and dirt repellent: Protects against spills from coffee, red wine, water and grease.
- Natural matt finish: Enhances the wood's unique grain and provides a modern, soft surface without a plastic film.
- Easy care & spot repair: The surface is very easy to wipe off and can be easily touched up locally in the event of wear without the entire floor needing to be sanded.
Suitable areas of use & Substrates
Herdins Hard Wax Oil is suitable for all clean, dry and wood-free surfaces indoors:
- Wood and parquet floors: Wooden floors, solid pine floors, oak parquet and stairs.
- Countertops & tables: Kitchen countertops, dining tables and work surfaces where high water resistance is required.
- Furniture & interior design: Chairs, shelves, doors, thresholds and panels.
- Note: The surface must be completely clean and free of old varnish, varnish, wax or soap deposits for proper penetration and adhesion.
Step-by-step: How to apply Herdins Hard Wax Oil
Preparation & Sanding
To achieve the best possible end result and optimal adhesion, careful preparation is required:
- Sand the surface completely clean. Start with a coarser paper if necessary and always finish with grain size 120.
- Always sand in the direction of the wood grain.
- Vacuum thoroughly and wipe away all fine sanding dust with a microfiber cloth.
Application
- Make sure that the hard wax oil and the room are at normal room temperature (approx. 18–22 °C). Stir the can thoroughly from the bottom. (If multiple cans are used, mix them together in a larger container for a completely uniform result).
- Spread the oil in a thin, even layer with a brush, floor applicator (Snappy), roller or white scouring pad. Work the oil thoroughly into the wood.
- Remove excess immediately: Wipe away any excess oil that has not been absorbed with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth within 15–20 minutes. Important: There must be no wet oil left on the surface.
- Let the first coat dry for at least 10 hours with good ventilation.
- Apply a second thin coat in the same way and wipe away any excess.
Drying times & Finishing
- Dry for the next coat: Approximately 10 hours.
- Touch dry: 12 hours after the last coat.
- Light load: Walk gently on the surface after 3 days (avoid heavy furniture and carpets during the first few days).
- Full cure: Achieved after approximately 12 days (at 20 °C and 50% relative humidity).
- Fine-tuning of gloss: The surface can be polished with a polishing cloth or white scouring pad for a slightly more polished and velvety finish.
Care, Maintenance & Tips
- Daily cleaning: Vacuum or dry mop. When wet wiping, use a well-wrung cloth with lukewarm water and a mild detergent such as Herdins Linseed Oil Soap. Avoid strong alkaline detergents that dissolve the wax.
- Renovation & maintenance: When the surface begins to feel dry over time or dulls in foot traffic, sand lightly with fine sandpaper (grain 180–240), remove the dust and apply a new thin layer of hard wax oil.
Safety information: Risk of spontaneous combustion
- The product contains drying vegetable oils. Rags, steel wool, sanding dust and lint soaked in the product can ignite spontaneously.
- Action: Immediately place all used rags and tools in water in a fireproof container or burn them in a controlled manner after the end of the working day. Do not empty into drains or nature.
