Lackbets 705 Acid Betton 300ml Herdins
Description
Give your wooden furniture and joinery a new life with Herdins Lackbets 705 Acid Betton. This is a ready-made, quick-drying stain solution combined with protective clear varnish that both colors and seals the wood in a single step. The unique formulation adheres excellently to both clean wood and previously varnished and treated surfaces, making it ideal for furniture renovation, moldings and interior details.
Features and benefits
- Color and protection in one step: Saves time by combining transparent color pigmentation with a durable varnish protection.
- Adheres to previously varnished surfaces: Perfect for renovating and refreshing older furniture without having to sand down to bare wood.
- Highlights the wood grain: High transparency highlights the wood's natural structure and creates a vibrant depth of color.
- Quick drying: Touch-dry in about 2 hours at 20 °C.
- Mixable colors: Acid stain tones can be combined with other colors in the Herdins Lackbets series (except white) to create a customized shade.
Step-by-step: How to succeed with your stain varnishing
Preparation & sanding
- Sand the surface: Always sand in the direction of the grain with sandpaper (grit size 150–180). Ensure that the substrate is dry, clean and free of grease and sanding dust.
- Previously treated surfaces: If necessary, clean with baking soda and rinse thoroughly with clean water before sanding.
- Repairs: Repairs with wood filler can absorb pigments differently than the surrounding wood. Carefully sand away any excess filler outside the repair.
- Test staining: The wood species' own base tone and absorption affect the final result. Always do a color test on a waste piece or a hidden surface first.
Application
- Mix the cans: Mix all contents in a larger container if more than one package is used, this will eliminate the risk of minor shade differences.
- Application: Apply liberally in the direction of the wood grain with a brush or wrung-out natural sponge. Smooth the liquid directly with a wiped brush.
- Working direction: On vertical objects and walls, start from the bottom and work upwards to prevent drip marks. It is best to stain panels flat before assembly.
- Layer: NOTE! Apply only one coat of Herdins Lackbets for best adhesion and evenness.
Finishing for extra durability
- Finally brushing with a panel brush gives a soft and pleasant surface.
- For exposed surfaces (e.g. table tops, chair seats or shelves) overpainting is recommended.
- Let the stain cure for at least 24 hours. Then sand the surface very lightly with a fine sandpaper or sanding cloth (especially around knots), wipe off the dust and varnish with Herdins Klarlack, Klarlack Aqua or Herdins Golvlack.
Safety, storage and environment
- Ventilation: Ensure good air exchange or mechanical ventilation during work. Avoid inhalation of vapors and contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves.
- Fire hazard: Contains flammable solvents. Keep container away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks and open flames. No smoking during application.
- Cleaning: Clean brushes and tools with T-alcohol or ethanol-based thinner.
- Waste management: Remains of stain and washing liquid should not be poured into the drain but left at a municipal recycling center as hazardous waste (solvent-based paint waste). The packaging is sorted as hard plastic.
