Big Dog Wood Screw 10x120mm ZFmax C4 T40 25pcs Fast 281537

Heavy-duty wood screw with large washer head and ZFmax C4 coating for harsh outdoor use, ideal for timber frames with partially threaded design.

Description

The Fast Big Dog C4 wood screw (10x120 mm) is a modern, high-performance fastener developed for demanding outdoor timber structures. It serves as a highly efficient, time-saving alternative to traditional lag screws (coach screws). Thanks to its well-engineered design and advanced surface treatment, the screw combines exceptional clamping force with long-lasting protection against the elements and corrosion.

Construction and Clamping Force

The integrated large washer head is a key feature of the Big Dog. Its wide bearing surface distributes the load evenly across the wood fibers, offering superior pull-through resistance compared to conventional countersunk screw heads. This is particularly important for structural timber-to-timber connections, where heavy-duty load-bearing joints must remain secure over the long term. Combined with the partial-thread shank, the washer head pulls the timber components together with high precision, minimizing gaps within the structure.

Optimized Threading and Geometry

The partially threaded design featuring a 90 mm thread length on a 120 mm screw—allows the unthreaded section to slide freely through the outer timber component. This creates a strong clamping effect between the structural elements. The screw’s cutting tip effectively severs wood fibers during installation, reducing the risk of splitting and facilitating an easier start. An integrated shank cutter reduces friction along the unthreaded portion of the shaft, lowering the required driving torque; this conserves both the tool’s battery life and the installer’s physical effort.

Material and Corrosion Protection

The screw features the advanced ZFmax surface treatment, providing proven protection in accordance with corrosivity class C4. This makes the fastener suitable for outdoor environments subject to moderate to high exposure to moisture, rain, and fluctuating temperatures. The coating maintains its corrosion resistance under demanding conditions, ensuring a secure and stable connection in outdoor structures.

Certifications and Type Approval

Quality and safety are assured through full compliance with current building standards. The screw carries the CE mark in accordance with the EN 14592 standard, certifying its mechanical performance in load-bearing timber structures. Furthermore, the product holds SITAC type approval certificate 0044/07, verifying its suitability and reliability for demanding construction applications.

Applications

This heavy-duty wood screw is designed for joining heavy timber, glulam, support beams, roof trusses, studs, and posts in outdoor environments. It is ideally suited for deck construction, structural framing, pergolas, carports, canopies, and other load-bearing timber structures that require high tensile strength and stable wood-to-wood connections.

Installation and Drive Type

The fastener features a deep, precise TX recess (T40). The TX drive minimizes the risk of the bit slipping during installation, allowing for controlled, ergonomic, and powerful torque transmission even in harder wood species or during repetitive, high-volume installation work. Installation is easily performed using a standard drill/driver or an impact driver equipped with the correct bit size.
