Big Dog Wood Screw 8x60mm Acid-Resistant Stainless Steel A4 T40 25pcs Fast 281615

Acid proof stainless steel A4 timber screw 8x60 mm from Fast with large washer head, cutter point and partial thread for outdoor installations.

Description

The Fast Big Dog A4 wood screw (8x60 mm) is a high-performance fastener developed for demanding outdoor timber structures that require maximum durability and high clamping force. This screw serves as an excellent, modern, and efficient alternative to traditional lag screws (coach screws), enabling faster installation with superior precision. Manufactured from acid-resistant, A4-grade stainless steel, the screw is built to withstand extremely harsh conditions, including coastal areas and environments with high humidity or salt exposure.

Robust Design and the Advantages of a Washer Head

The screw features an integrated, large washer head that distributes the load over a wider contact surface. This provides significantly better pull-through resistance compared to standard countersunk screw heads, reducing the risk of the screw being driven too deep into the wood fibers and damaging the timber. The broad bearing surface is particularly valuable when designing and constructing load-bearing timber-to-timber structures, where stable and reliable compression is essential for the long-term strength and safety of the assembly.

Partially threaded design for optimal clamping force

With a total length of 60 mm and a thread length of 36 mm, this screw features a partial thread. This design allows the unthreaded portion of the shank to pass freely through the component being fastened, while the threads engage with the underlying material. This creates a powerful pulling-together effect, drawing the timber components tightly together without leaving gaps—resulting in a significantly stronger connection than fully threaded alternatives in similar applications.

Efficient cutting tip and TX drive

To facilitate installation, the Fast Big Dog is equipped with a specialized cutting tip. The design of the tip severs the wood fibers during rotation, which reduces the required driving torque and minimizes the risk of the wood splitting—even when fastening near end grain or edges. The screw utilizes a T40 drive, ensuring optimal power transfer from the drill/driver without the bit slipping; this preserves the tools and minimizes wear on the screw head during installation.

Acid-resistant stainless steel for corrosivity class C5

The screw is manufactured from A4 acid-resistant stainless steel, qualifying it for corrosivity class C5. This provides the highest possible level of protection against corrosion, making the screw suitable for demanding outdoor environments, industrial areas, and marine installations where standard galvanized or conventional stainless steel would not suffice over time. Furthermore, the screw is CE-marked in accordance with the EN 14592 standard, ensuring compliance with European requirements for load-bearing timber structures.

Versatile Applications

Thanks to its robust core and corrosion-resistant alloy, this screw is well-suited for a wide range of outdoor construction projects:

  • Load-bearing frameworks for decks, patios, and pergolas
  • Assembly of heavy structural timber, joists, and support beams
  • Facade construction and exterior timber cladding
  • Jetties, boathouses, and timber structures in coastal or marine environments
  • Joining timber components where a long service life and high structural strength are required
