Description

Herdins Ceiling & Panel Extra White (3 Litres) is an eco-labelled, water-borne and drip-free glaze specially developed for untreated or previously varnished softwood indoors. It gives old and yellowed panels and ceilings a beautiful, fresh, bright and satin-matt surface while elegantly highlighting the wood's natural grain and structure.

The glaze effectively prevents and reduces both yellowing and knot bleeding. One of the biggest advantages is that you do not need to use knot varnish before treatment. Its drip-free properties and easy application make it an extremely popular product, especially for ceiling painting – equally appreciated by professionals and DIYers.

Instructions for use & Application

Pre-treatment

• Clean & dry surface: The panel should be completely dry and well cleaned before you start.
• Clean wooden surfaces: Sand with sandpaper (grain size 120–150) in the direction of the wood grain before treatment.
• Previously varnished & old yellowed panels: Clean thoroughly with paint remover or a grease-dissolving alkaline cleaner.
• Post-washing: Regardless of which paint remover is used, the surface should always be washed thoroughly with clean water.
• Peeling varnish: If the varnish has started to peel, sanding is recommended.
• Test application: Check the shade and adhesion on a less visible surface before you start.

Application

• Stir the glaze thoroughly and let it rest for a few minutes.
• Important for multiple cans: If you have purchased multiple packages of the same color, we recommend that you mix them together in a larger container to even out any differences in gloss and shade.
• Apply the glaze with a soft paint brush.
• Work systematically in the lengthwise direction of the wood, 2–3 boards at a time. Never finish in the middle of a board.
• Always apply 2 coats, let dry at least 12 hours between coats.

Handling, Storage & Waste Management

• Cleaning of tools: Wipe brushes and other utensils thoroughly. Then clean them with soap and water.
• Handling & Storage: Avoid spillage, skin and eye contact. Store frost-free.
• Waste management: Empty and cleaned packaging is sent for packaging recycling. Any product residues are sent to an environmental station.

Sufficient for (Consumption)

1 liter is sufficient for two coats for:

• Approx. 5–8 m² on clean wooden surfaces.
• Approx. 12 m² on previously varnished surfaces.

Drying time

• Dust-dry: Approx. 2 hours.
• Overpaintable: At least 12 hours.
