Oil Stain 907 Brown 275ml Herdins
Description
Herdins Oil Stain Brown (275 ml) colors and cares for your wood in one step. This ready-to-use stain solution consists of pigmented oil and provides a more even coloring and a pleasant, soft and silky surface. The oil stain provides good basic protection and preserves a tactile wood feel. Unlike varnish-based stains, it has a longer open time, which makes it perfect for larger surfaces such as floors and panels. In addition, the surface is very easy to repair in case of damage - just sand locally and apply new oil stain.
Advantages of Herdins Oil Stain Brown
- 2-in-1 function: Colours and cares for the wood in one step.
- Even result: Pigmented oil that gives a natural, soft and silky surface without stains.
- Long open time: Dries slower than lacquer stain, which makes it perfect for large surfaces such as floors and panels.
- Easy to repair: Just sand the damaged area locally and apply new oil stain - you don't have to redo the entire surface.
- High coverage: A small can (275 ml) is enough for a full 10–15 m².
- Versatile: Works both indoors and outdoors on everything from furniture to joinery and ceilings.
- Easy to work with: Easy to spread with a cloth, brush or sponge.
Pre-treatment for Best Results
For a successful result, a well-sanded, clean and dry wooden surface free of dirt and defects is required.
- New wood: Sand in the direction of the grain with 120-grit sandpaper for optimal adhesion.
- Varnished surfaces: Must be sanded completely clean.
- Previously oiled surfaces: Sand lightly.
- When removing paint (stripper): Clean thoroughly from chemical residues with soap solution or alkaline detergent. Rinse thoroughly with water, let dry and sand away any raised fibers.
- Repair: Fill any holes in the wood before treatment.
Application & Working method
- Stirring: Always stir thoroughly all the way to the bottom of the can with a stirring stick until the product is thoroughly mixed. Simply shaking the can is not enough.
- Application: Work in the oil stain with a cloth, brush or cellulose sponge. The wood should preferably lie flat. For vertical objects: work from the bottom up. Always smooth tongue and groove and edges if you stain panels.
- Wiping: Wipe away any excess in the direction of the wood grain.
- Drying: Let dry for 12 hours.
- More coats (Darker tone): Sand the surface lightly with fine sandpaper after drying, brush off the dust and apply another coat.
Finishing & Maintenance
Finish after at least 24 hours of curing:
- Indoors (Normal wear): Herdins Kitchen Countertop Oil, Herdins Beeswax or Herdins Wax Oil.
- Indoors (Normal to heavy wear): Herdins Hard Wax Oil, Herdins Clear Coat, Herdins Clear Coat Aqua or Herdins Floor Coat.
- Outdoors: Herdins Chinese Wood Oil, Herdins Teak Oil or Herdins Wood Oil.
- Maintenance: Surfaces treated with oil stain or wax oil should be maintained with a suitable finishing product when the wood feels dry and rough.
Important Tips & Safety Instructions
- The product contains drying oils. There is a high risk of spontaneous combustion of soaked rags, tangles, steel wool, etc. Used rags and materials must be immediately placed in water or set on fire after use.
- Mixing cans: If you use several cans of the same color, mix them together before starting work to ensure a completely even color tone.
- Note for light colors: White oil stain may turn yellow due to the properties of the substrate and the natural color change of the oil components. For wooden floors, we advise against the color Antikvit in combination with finishing (e.g. Floor varnish) as the surface may turn yellow - then choose suitable floor products.
Cleaning & Waste Management
- Cleaning of tools: Dry tools thoroughly. Then clean with brush cleaner or white spirit.
- Storage: Reseal opened tin cans well.
- Waste: Liquid oil stain residues and washing liquid are flammable waste and must not be poured into the drain. Leave at local environmental station. Empty metal cans are recycled as metal packaging.
