Description

Herdins Lacquer Stain Aqua is a ready-made, waterborne stain solution with a binder based on micropigment. It combines coloring and varnishing in one step to give the wood a beautiful result and reliable basic protection. Thanks to a longer open time than traditional stains, it is forgiving and very easy to apply, even for inexperienced users.

The formula is gentle on the environment and is less affected by sunlight compared to other stains, which makes it excellent for surfaces exposed to a lot of light. Lackbets Aqua is available in a total of 10 different colors.

Instructions & Workflow

Pre-treatment

• Always do a test stain on the same type of wood to check the shade before starting work.
• Sand the surface in the direction of the wood grain with sandpaper grit 120 or similar.
• Previously treated surfaces should be sanded thoroughly and, if necessary, washed with lye. Then rinse off the lye thoroughly with clean water.

Application

• Stir the stain thoroughly before use.
• If you are using several cans of the same color, mix them together in a container before you start to ensure a completely uniform shade.
• Apply the stain liberally and spread in the direction of the grain.
• Quickly smooth out the stain with a wrung-out sponge or a wiped-out brush.
• If there is a tendency for overlap: Wet the area with more stain and work out the transition with a white non-woven cloth so that the color is evenly distributed.
• Always finish by wiping off and smoothing the surface with a wrung-out sponge.

Finishing & Wear Layer

• Finally brushing with a panel brush or white non-woven cloth gives a softer and more pleasant surface finish.
• For surfaces that require extra strong wear protection, the surface can be refinished and overcoated with Herdins Klarlack Aqua or Herdins Golvlack.
• NOTE: When overcoating Lackbets Aqua on oak, the color darkens significantly. Always perform a test on a hidden surface first.

Safety, Cleaning & Waste Management

• Tools: Wipe off as much product as possible from brushes and tools before washing them clean with water and ordinary dishwashing detergent.
• Handling: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Store out of the reach of children and frost-free.
• Waste: Liquid residues are left at a recycling center as water-based paint waste. Well-emptied and cleaned tin cans are sorted and recycled as metal/sheet metal.

Important to know before use

• Laquer Stain Aqua has a slightly lower transparency than Herdins Äkta Bets or traditional Lackbets.
• When applied to previously varnished wood, the water-based formulation does not have the same adhesion as traditional solvent-based varnish; therefore, be extra careful with the preparation and sanding.
