Description

Herdins Lacquer Stain Aqua Silver Grey is a modern, water-based and environmentally friendly stain solution that colors and protects wooden surfaces in one step. The product is based on micropigments and binders, which gives an even and beautiful result with high durability - even for the inexperienced user. Thanks to a longer open time, it is easy to work with, and it resists sunlight significantly better than traditional stains, making it optimal for surfaces that are exposed to a lot of daylight.

Instructions for use & Workflow

Pre-treatment

  • Always do a test stain on a hidden surface of the same wood species to check the shade.
  • Sand the surface in the direction of the wood grain with sandpaper (grain size 120 or similar).
  • For previously treated surfaces: sand thoroughly and wash with baking soda if necessary (then rinse thoroughly with water).

Application

  • Stir the stain thoroughly before use. If several cans of the same color are used, they should be mixed together beforehand.
  • Apply the stain liberally and spread in the direction of the grain.
  • Quickly smooth the surface with a wrung-out sponge or a well-squeezed brush.
  • If there is a tendency to overlap: moisten the area with more stain and work it out with a white fibre cloth to even out the colour.
  • Finish by wiping off and smoothing the surface with a wrung-out sponge.

Finishing & Care

  • Finally brush with a panel brush or white fibre cloth for a smoother surface.
  • For extra wear resistance, the surface can be overcoated with Herdins Clearcoat Aqua or Herdins Floor Lacquer.
  • NOTE regarding oak: When overcoating oak, the colour darkens significantly. Always carry out a test on a hidden surface first.

Cleaning, Handling & Storage

  • Tools: Wipe off excess stain and wash with water and washing-up liquid.
  • Storage: Store frost-free in tightly closed original packaging. Avoid skin and eye contact and spills.
  • Recycling: Leftover product is sent to the environmental station as water-based paint waste. Well emptied and cleaned packaging is sorted as metal/sheet metal.

Important to Know

  • Lackbets Aqua has slightly lower transparency compared to Äkta Bets or traditional Lacquer Stain.
  • When applied to previously varnished wood, it has slightly lower adhesion compared to traditional solvent-borne lacquer stain.
