Lacquer Stain Aqua 612 Pearl Gray 275ml Herdins
Description
Herdins Aqua Stain & Varnish Pearl Grey (275 ml) is a ready-to-use, water-based staining solution containing binders and micropigments; it colors the wood and provides a durable base layer of protection in one go. Thanks to an extended open time, the formula is very forgiving and helps prevent visible seams and overlap marks—making it perfect for both beginners and experienced DIYers.
The Pearl Grey shade offers a modern, soft tone while highlighting the wood's natural grain. Aqua Stain & Varnish features high lightfastness, making it particularly suitable for furniture and woodwork exposed to sunlight.
Benefits of Herdins Aqua Stain & Varnish Pearl Grey
- Colors and protects in one step: Contains both micropigments and binders, providing color and basic surface protection without the need for a separate varnish layer for normal wear and tear.
- Easy to work with and long open time: The delayed drying time during application makes it easy to even out the stain and minimizes the risk of visible seams and overlaps, even for inexperienced users.
- High lightfastness (UV-resistant): Significantly less affected by sunlight than traditional stains, preventing the wood surface from fading or yellowing in sunlit rooms. Gentle water-based formula: Low odor during application, better for the indoor environment, and easy cleanup of brushes and sponges using only water and dish soap.
- Versatile substrate compatibility: Adheres well to both bare wood and surfaces that have been previously sanded or treated.
- Flexible durability: Provides a pleasant finish as-is, but can easily be reinforced with clear varnish or floor varnish if the surface will be subjected to heavy wear (e.g., tabletops).
Instructions for use
Preparation
- Always perform a test stain on a hidden area or a scrap piece of the same wood species to verify the shade.
- Sand the surface in the direction of the grain using 120-grit sandpaper. Remove all sanding dust.
- Clean previously treated surfaces thoroughly; sand down and wash with sugar soap (TSP substitute) if necessary (rinse well with clean water and allow to dry completely).
Application
- Mix the contents if using multiple cans of the same color to ensure a uniform result. Stir well before and during use.
- Apply a generous amount of stain in the direction of the wood grain.
- Even out quickly using a damp natural sponge or a brush with excess stain removed.
- If overlap marks appear: apply a little extra stain and blend the transition using a white synthetic abrasive pad.
Finishing
- Brush over with a panel brush or white synthetic abrasive pad for an extra soft, pleasant finish.
- For extra high durability (e.g., tabletops and stair treads), apply a topcoat of Herdins Clear Varnish Aqua or Herdins Floor Varnish. Note: Applying a topcoat over oak will significantly darken the color—always perform a test first.
Care, Storage & Environment
- Tool cleaning: Wipe off excess stain thoroughly; Then wash brushes and sponges with warm water and dish soap.
- Storage: Store in a frost-free location in the tightly sealed original container, out of the reach of children.
- Waste disposal: Dispose of liquid paint residue at a recycling center as water-based paint waste. Thoroughly emptied and dry cans should be sorted as metal packaging.
