Lacquer Stain Aqua 622 Dark Oak 275ml Herdins
Description
Herdins Lacquer Stain Aqua Dark Oak is a waterborne, environmentally friendly and user-friendly ready-to-use stain solution with binder, based on micropigments. The product both colors and provides good basic protection for the wood in one step. Thanks to a longer open time than traditional stains, it is forgiving to apply, which makes it easy even for the inexperienced to achieve an even, neat and durable result without joints. The stain has high lightfastness and is less affected by sunlight compared to other stains, which makes it optimal for surfaces in sun-exposed environments. Lackbets Aqua is available in 10 different colors.
Advantages of Herdins Lacquer Stain Aqua
- 2-in-1 solution (Colors and protects in one step): Contains binders that give the wood a durable base protection at the same time as it is colored, which saves both time and work compared to traditional stains that require separate varnishing.
- Forgiving and easy to work with (Longer open time): The extended open time means that the stain does not dry too quickly during application. This reduces the risk of visible overlaps and makes it easy even for beginners to get an even and professional finish.
- High UV and light resistance: The product is based on micropigments that are significantly less affected by sunlight than traditional stains, which prevents the wood surface from fading in windows or sun-exposed rooms.
- Water-borne and gentle formulation: Low odor, more environmentally friendly and pleasant to work with indoors without strong solvent vapors.
- Easy cleaning: Tools, brushes and sponges can be easily cleaned with plain tap water and a little dish soap instead of white spirit or thinner.
- Flexible use: Adheres well to both clean wood and previously treated surfaces and can be combined with Herdins Klarlack Aqua or Golvlak if the surface is exposed to extra hard wear.
Step-by-step Instructions
Pre-treatment
- Always do a test stain on the same type of wood to check the shade before you start the entire project.
- Sand clean wood surfaces in the direction of the grain with sandpaper grit 120 or similar.
- Previously treated surfaces must be sanded and possibly cleaned with painter's soda. Then rinse the painter's soda thoroughly with clean water.
Application
- Stir the stain thoroughly before starting work.
- Apply the stain liberally and spread it in the direction of the wood's grain.
- Quickly smooth the stain over the surface with a wrung-out sponge or a wiped brush.
- If there is a tendency to overlap: wet the area with more stain and work the area with a white fibre cloth to even out the colour.
- Always finish by wiping off and smoothing the surface with a wrung-out sponge.
Finishing & Care
- Finally brushing with a panel brush or white fibre cloth gives a more pleasant and smoother surface.
- For extra durability, the surface can be finished with Herdins Klarlack Aqua or Herdins Golvlack.
- NOTE regarding oak: When overpainting Lackbets Aqua on oak, the colouring darkens extra much. Always do a test on a hidden surface first.
Tool Care, Storage & Environment
- Cleaning of tools: Wipe off brushes and utensils as thoroughly as possible. Then wash clean with water and washing-up liquid.
- Handling & Storage: Store frost-free in tightly closed original packaging. Avoid spills and contact with skin and eyes.
- Waste management: Hand over to the environmental station as water-based paint waste. Empty and cleaned cans are sorted as sheet metal/metal.
Important to consider
- Lackbets Aqua has slightly lower transparency compared to Äkta Bets or traditional Lacquer Bets.
- When applied to previously varnished wood, it does not have the same strong adhesion as traditional lacquer stain.
- If the project requires several cans of the same color, these should be mixed together in a larger container before application to ensure a completely uniform shade.
