Lacquer Stain Aqua 617 Tar 275ml Herdins
Description
Herdins Lacquer Stain Aqua in the color "Tar" is a ready-mixed, water-based stain solution containing binders and micro pigments. It colors and protects the wood in one single step. Thanks to a longer open time compared to traditional stains, the risk of overlap marks is minimized, making it easy to work with even for inexperienced users.
The formula offers good resistance to sunlight and UV radiation, making it ideal for furniture, paneling, and woodwork exposed to daylight.
Benefits of Herdins Lacquer Stain Aqua
- Colors and protects in one step: Delivers both an even color and durable base protection immediately.
- Extended open time: Easy to apply and smooth out without visible seams or unevenness.
- High UV resistance: Less affected by sunlight than traditional stains.
- Water-based and gentle: Low odor and easy tool cleanup with water.
Instructions for use
Pre-treatment
- Always test on a scrap piece or hidden area to check the final result.
- Sand bare wood in the direction of the grain using 120-grit sandpaper.
- For previously treated surfaces, sand to a matte finish and wash with sugar soap (TSP) if necessary (rinse thoroughly with clean water).
Application
- Stir the stain thoroughly before use. If using multiple cans of the same color, mix them together in a single container to ensure a completely uniform shade.
- Apply the stain liberally, following the direction of the wood grain.
- Quickly spread and even out the stain using a damp (wrung-out) sponge or a brush with the excess removed.
- If overlap marks appear: Moisten the area with a little extra stain and blend it out using a white synthetic fiber pad.
Finishing & Wear Protection
- Buffing the surface with a white synthetic fiber pad or a panel brush afterwards creates a softer, more even finish.
- For high-wear surfaces (such as tabletops or floors), applying a topcoat of Herdins Klarlack Aqua or Herdins Golvlack is recommended.
- Note on oak: Applying a topcoat over oak will significantly darken the stain color. Always test on an inconspicuous area first.
